Cast Iron Ball Caps Styles Our decorative cast iron ball post caps are available in the following styles: Ball Cap (square base plate with a ball mounted on top) Acorn Cap (has a plug, and an acorn top) All caps can be placed on metal and wooden railings and exterior fences Sizes Cast iron ball post caps are available in the following sizes: Acorn style post cap (1” squarebase, 7/8” plug, 3 ¾”) Ball style post cap (1” Base sizes up to 6”) Note: When choosing the right ball post cap size for your building needs, the hole size refers to the outside size of your material.  For example, if you are using 2” square material for your project, you would choose the 2” hole size, so it will slip over top.
